Your role

We are recruiting a Factory Services Operator to join our Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute and support the ongoing success of Cepac Rotherham.

The successful candidate will ensure the smooth running of the Starch Kitchen, Boiler, Water Treatment Plant, Automatic Wastepaper Baler, and the Air Compressors.

The main duties are to:

• Closely monitor the mixing plant in the starch kitchen, topping up the system with Borax when required, maintain correct viscosity, gel points and transfer of starch to the corrugator
• Closely monitor the two boilers to ensure continuous factory operation, adjusting the set water quality parameters when required
• Assist with boiler strip down and rebuild for inspections
• Wastewater Treatment – monitor and control water levels in sumps, process, and discharge wastewater.
• Maintain the required parameters for the wastewater
• Clean filter press when required
• Transfer bales of waste by means of Forklift Truck onto an articulated lorry trailer prior to removal from site by a contractor
• Fit coils of bailing wire to the wire dispensing spigots on the baling machine
• Monitor and maintain equipment, fault find and rectify
• Monitor the operation of the compressors
• General housekeeping of the work areas, ensuring a safe working environment
• Monitor starch silo, fuel oil, caustic soda and other chemicals, report defects and spillages
• Supervise the offloading of starch from the delivery tanker into the silo
• Able to work a regular rotating shift pattern over 3 weeks: nights (10pm-6am), afters (2pm-10pm) and days (6am-2pm)

The successful candidate must:

• Have experience of working in a services environment
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• FLT Licence desirable
• Be safety conscious
• Have basic mechanical skills
• Be proficient using hand tools
