Winning time for Cepac at UK Packaging and POPAI Awards

Cepac has added two more awards to its collection, winning top prizes in both the UK Packaging Awards and the POPAI Awards for a range of innovative designs which impressed the judges.  

At a virtual ceremony held on November 26, the UK Packaging Award for Corrugated: Retail Ready and Point of Sale went to the free standing display unit (FSDU) designed by Cepac for the launch of PepsiCo’s Walkers Max Double Crunch. Using a new pop-up assembly system, Cepac’s team created a display which could be implemented easily in-store, in less than  20 seconds.

Judges described the product as “awesome”, “highly efficient” and “impressive” going on to say it was “quick to erect, looks great and robust, and over-delivered on the brief.”

A week later, Cepac took gold in the Short Run Temporary Display category at the 2020 POPAI Awards (also held virtually) for its M&S Postbox FSDU designed for Hallmark. This eye-catching item was designed to replicate the iconic British red post box pillar to support M&S’ visual merchandising for its stores’ Christmas cards and wrap ranges which drew on the ‘iconic British’ theme.

Judges praised the carefully considered use of environmentally friendly materials at every point of planning in the campaign adding: “This brilliant display is a stand-out entry in this category and its design is fantastic.”

Also at the POPAI Awards, Cepac’s Beefeater Pink Gin Scented FSDU for Pernod Ricard, and the Walkers Max Double Crunch FSDU for PepsiCo took silver and bronze respectively in the Grocery & General Merchandise Temporary Display category.

These awards follow on from Cepac picking up the Innovation Prize at this year’s Aquaculture Awards in September for its Chiller Pack, designed by the company’s specialist transit packaging team. This product, a corrugated cardboard pack for the transportation of fresh fish and shellfish, also won gold in the Best New Concept category at the UK Packaging Awards in 2019.
